"Waaaaaahhhhhhhh, they're playing soccer on the soccer field." I have never been to Charleston but it seems like there should be many fields to play on?

2 solutions: 1-- the horselot is an option 2 -- there's a nice field next to the miracle league baseball field in West ashley on playground rd...that's a def option

I live on Cool Blow St. and there is a city field on the corner of Cool Blow and Meeting St. It's similar condition to the Maple St. field, and there is never anyone really using the field.

Is Charleston pickup soccer about to die?

It's a sad day but it looks like we are getting screwed by the man (figuratively speaking thankfully but still ... then I guess it depends on your perspective ... nevermind). Really? After all the effort we collectively put into building pickup soccer in Charleston, we are slowly but surely being strangled out of space to play? This is a seriously crappy situation and something needs to be done!

We have lost the ability to play on the Aquarium fields, which is where we used to play 90%… Continue

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for Soccer

You know, I searched and searched online but couldn't find much of anything about combining Jiu-Jitsu and soccer. This seemed strange to me, as I think they complement each other quite nicely. You might be asking what the hell do Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) and soccer have in common - well good question.

Most experienced soccer people will tell you it's better to warm up before a game rather than stretch before warming up, before a game. Your muscles aren't ready to stretch if they aren't warmed… Continue

Campaign for Camera-vision (in football)

After watching France steal World Cup qualification from Ireland last night, right now I feel pretty disheartened that we will EVER qualify for anything again. I know this feeling will pass obviously and in a few days I'll be ready for the European Cup as our next step but man right now I am pretty disgusted with last night's events.

Two blue shirts were offside and then Thierry Henry handled the ball twice in the box before toeing it to Gallas for a goal. To say that Henry should take the blam… Continue

Is Oregon hill pickup dangerous?

I'm starting to wonder if I'm the only one that thinks this but Oregon hill just might be dangerous. I mean I played there about 6 months back and rolled my ankle. About 6 months BEFORE that I had rolled the other ankle. Now I know some very cool and talented people play there but I just wonder why people like it so much. Is it because there are goals there? Because of the location?

Oregon hill should be renamed the Oregon Triangle. One third has short grass and bits of stones - another third h… Continue

Top 5 reasons not to play pickup soccer

It's Sunday and our league game got canceled today due to rain out - (shocking I know, that never happens), so I tried to rally the troops to see who might be interested in a pickup game instead. I suggested we play on a nice field with goals that is relatively central, at noon (our game had been scheduled for 9 that morning) but I got few responses not only from a 23 man squad of dedicated soccer players but also from an almost 100 strong local email list of self proclaimed pickup enthusiasts.… Continue
